Biography

After growing up on Lake Michigan trolling for lakers and coho, Bob started flyfishing while an undergrad at CU in 1986. After returning to the Chicago area in 1989, He spent his free time in Michigan fishing the Pere Marquette, Manistee and Au Sable rivers for trophy browns, coho and steelhead, and when he couldn’t get to Michigan, hunting browns and rainbows on the spring creeks in S. Central Wisconsin. In 2003 Bob moved from Northern Illinois to the Roaring Fork Valley where he raised his three children and spent his weekends fishing the Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, Arkansas and other rivers in central and western Colorado. He is especially proud of introducing a variation of the Michigan Chuck-n-Duck method to frustrated anglers fishing the toilet bowl for monster rainbows below the Ruedi Reservoir dam.

Professionally, Bob is a trial lawyer and the managing partner of Sloat, Nicholson & Hoover P.C., a boutique trial law firm focusing on spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury litigation. He lives in Boulder with his wife Jane and their lab Hendrix. When not fishing, Bob can usually be found on a golf course.
